Mount Mercy Students Shine at Canisius University Women’s Business Event
Four Mount Mercy seniors, Lauren Szpylman, Nola Marrero, Emma Sopko, and Olivia Gorczyca, recently had the incredible opportunity to attend a Women’s Business Center meeting at Canisius University.
During the event, our students proudly represented Mount Mercy’s own student-run businesses, The Magic Market and Wizard Wear Shop. The students delivered a 45-second branding pitch showcasing the creativity, confidence, and entrepreneurial spirit that define our Business and Finance Academy.
The Mercy girls were able to connect with and learn from more than 40 women-owned small businesses. The attendees were so impressed by our students’ professionalism and passion. Many commented on how inspiring it was to see young women already leading and operating successful ventures.
This experience was not only an incredible networking opportunity, but also a reflection of Mount Mercy’s commitment to project-based, hands-on learning. Through real-world experiences like this, our students aren’t just learning about business, they’re becoming business owners and entrepreneurs, developing essential life and leadership skills along the way.
At Mount Mercy, we’re proud to be at the forefront of education, preparing our students for life beyond the classroom by providing authentic, career-focused opportunities that empower them to dream big, lead boldly, and make a difference.
