ecently Mount Mercy Academy competed in the Erie County Envirothon.  The 2022 event was held at Village Green Park in Elma. Schools from across the county formed teams to compete in two rounds of activities.  The first round was an oral presentation and the second round included stations where the team members were asked questions. The topics that they were queried on included forestry, aquatics, wildlife, soils, and current issues.

Mount Mercy's team of seniors Aubrey Monaco (Buffalo), Annie Bernard (Orchard Park), Melina Courtney (Elma), Sydney Ardanuy (Buffalo) and Natalie Radwan (West Seneca), along with junior Bridget Dougherty (Buffalo) competed in both rounds and ended up finishing second in the current events section.  The team was not only able to learn factual information but also was able to apply concepts to the ever-changing world.

"Mercy is more than just a school. Mercy is my second home and a shoulder to lean on. Mount Mercy has given me the confidence and resources to pursue my passions and make the world a more inclusive place, propelling me to take strides into male-dominated fields. Mercy blessed me with an environment to grow intellectually and in the community, giving me the foundation to make a tangible impact while making lifelong friendships."
