News of Note - Mount Mercy Participates in Porchfest in South Buffalo

by Meagan Saxe

Saturday, July 24th

12:00PM to 5:00PM

South Buffalo Porchfest is a music festival that takes advantage of the "stages" all over our neighborhood.  Musicians set up on a porch (or deck, driveway, or other place) and those passing by are treated to a concert. Pretty good, huh?

This festival is organized by South Buffalo Roots (formerly known as Can You Dig it, Inc), the promoters of the South Buffalo Irish Festival (southbuffaloirishfestival.org), and is inspired by the other porchfests around the country including the Buffalo Porchfest (buffaloporchfest.org) held in the Elmwood Village, as well as the original Porchfest orginated in Ithaca, NY.

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
