Mount Mercy Announces Winter Athletic Award Winners

Mount Mercy Athletic Director Doug Webster presented the award winners for bowling at a recent honors assembly.  Webster presented special awards to the Most Valuable Athletes, the athlete that the coach felt the team contributed the most to the team’s success, the Coach’s award which is given to the athlete who exhibits the best effort, attitude, dedication and team spirit and the Most Improved Athlete is given to the girl whose skills progress the most throughout the course of the season.

Sophomore Annie Bernard (Orchard Park) was named the winner of the Coach’s Award for JV Bowling and junior Rheanna Welsh (Lackawanna) was selected as the Most Improved Bowler on the JV team.

Junior Olivia Coleman (Lackawanna), a First Team All-Catholic and the holder of the top average in the Monsignor Martin League, was named the Most Valuable Bowler on the varsity team.  Senior Allysyn Pajek (West Seneca) was chosen as the Coach’s Award Winner and freshman Paige Angle (Lackawanna) was the Most Improved Bowler.

Both the JV and Varsity Bowling Teams finished the year in second place.

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
