Mount Mercy Holds Its Annual Mother-Daughter Mass and Breakfast

Mount Mercy recently held its annual Mother Daughter Mass and Breakfast.  The morning began with a mass at Holy Family Church in South Buffalo. Sophomore Adrianna Awald(Gowanda) and senior Gina Szumigala (Elma) proclaimed the readings.  Junior Angelina Larivey and her mother Angela of Lackawanna offered the prayers of the faithful. During the mass senior Evelyn Nowak and her mother Sheila gave a reflection about mothers and daughters and the growth Evelyn has experienced at Mount Mercy.

After the mass the mothers and daughters traveled to The Columns for a buffet style breakfast.  Before breakfast began, senior Elizabeth Higgins (Buffalo) shared thoughts about what mothers mean to her and her classmates.

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
