Mount Mercy Graduate Achieves a Top Score on her AP Art Portfolio

Roisin Lynch of Buffalo, a 2019 graduate of Mount Mercy received a 5 on the Advanced Placement Studio in Art portfolio.  A five is the highest possible score on an AP exam. Lynch has a painting of Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior on display in Albany.  The painting is in the Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza. The painting is part of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fine Arts and Essay Exhibition.  The Exhibition is sponsored by the New York State Education Department. Lynch has also been honored with a second place finish in the 36th Annual Congressional Art Competition and earned the People’s Choice Award in the same competition. Lynch will attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and major in Fine Art.

Lynch was taught by Ms. Jacqueline Welch, Mount Mercy Academy’s award winning art teacher.

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
