Two Mount Mercy Athletes Earn Academic Accolades

Recently two Mount Mercy Academy athletes were honored by Section VI. Both were named to the Section VI All-Western New York Scholar-Athlete spring sports team. Students who are selected most maintain a 90 plus average for the previous six semesters and have been a starter or significant player in their sports. Seniors from the over 100 public and private high schools across Western New York are eligible and then the most qualified are selected. Representing Mount Mercy Academy on the spring All-Western New York Scholar-Athlete team are Mariah Rullan of Buffalo and Grace Willert of West Seneca.
Rullan, Mount Mercy’s co-Senior Athlete of the year, was a member of the school’s lacrosse team. She scored 13 goals and was an Honorable Mention All-Catholic selection this season. Willert, a member of the track team, was the field MVP this season and placed second overall in the shot put with a heave of 32’ and fifth overall in the discus with a throw of 93’9” at the State Catholic Track Championships.
