Mount Mercy Academy Latin Students Excel

Several of Mount Mercy’s Latin students were among the over 139,000 students from the United States, as well as twenty other countries to take the National Latin Exam in March. The results were announced recently and nine of Dr. Chris Buczek’s Latin students were awarded certificates for their scores.

Two Latin I students, Aubrey Monaco and Adrianna Awald were honored for their performance on the Latin I exam.  Monaco (Buffalo) earned a Silver Medal and the Maxima Cum Laude Award and

Awald was awarded the Magna Cum Laude Award.  Five juniors were recognized for their scores on the Latin III exam.  Melanie Bebak (Cheektowaga), Madeline Fecio (Buffalo), Erin Jackson (Buffalo) and Caitlyn Robertson (Depew) all received the Magna Cum Laude Award. Lily Kasperek (Forestville) attained the Cum Laude Award.

Additionally, two junior Latin III students, Jessica Shaw (Buffalo) and Elizabeth Lang (Buffalo) received Certificates of Merit for achieving the average score of all Latin III students across the world.

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
