by cnewman

Olivia Takacs has earned a micro-grant from the Summer Institute of Buffalo for Human Rights and Genocide Studies. In the photo to the left, she is seen receiving a check for $100 from Associate Timothy J. Redmond. This money will be used for expenses to run a Student Event that will be held in April 2015 (Date TBD) The proceeds of the student run event will help South Sudanese girls attend a Mercy sister school. Each $50 raised provides the annual tuition for one female student. If you are interested in more information on the Summer Institute of Buffalo, you can find them on Facebook and Twitter. If you are interested in helping in any way with the Student Fundraiser, please contact Olivia at Mount Mercy Academy.

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
