Mercy's Academy of Science & Healthcare Seniors Receive Lab Coats

by cnewman

On Wednesday, May 1, 2013, Mount Mercy Academy and Bishop-Timon seniors enrolled in the Academy of Science & Healthcare were given their first white lab coat, as they head out on the path of healthcare in college. The ceremony was held at Mercy Hospital where three of these outstanding seniors offered testimonies about their experiences in the Academy. Parents, classmates, faculty, hospital administration and members of the community were there to support the students and this innovative program.

Congratulations to Annie Barnes (attending Duquesne University), Jenna Dasta (attending Canisius College), Laura Pantano (attending Elmira College), Megan Sheehan (attending Case Western) and Erin Bender (attending Canisius College)!

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
