Mount Mercy Academy and Canisius High School Students Travel to Europe
by cnewman

Exploring the sights of Barcelona one day while walking along side the rich and famous of Monaco, 8 Mercy students and their co-travelers from Canisius High School did just that on this year's Europe trip! The 10 day trip lead by Mount Mercy Academy teacher Catherine Luhr and teachers from Canisius High School allowed students the opportunity to view the Mediterranean Sea (and dip their feet in the warm water) in Nice, France and explore Italy as well.
Miss Luhr's 20th trip to Europe had students enjoying travel opportunities such as the beauty of Florence and her gold market as well as the antiquity of old Rome. Stops at the Fragonard perfume factory in France and Misuri leather store in Florence allowed for shopping and a fashion show but were balanced out by educational stops to see Michelangelo's David and the Sistine Chapel. Although Pope Francis was not in residence while students were in Rome, there was plenty of time to shop for rosaries and other items in "The Eternal City".
Each year MMA and Canisius travel to a special spot in Europe together, an event which develops friendships for a lifetime! Plans are underway for the Mercy-Canisius trip during Easter 2014 to Eastern Europe, including stops in Krakow, Poland, Prague, Czech Republic and Budapest, Hungary. All are welcome to join us!
