MMA Offers NEW Drawing & Painting Summer Arts Clinic

by cnewman

Mount Mercy Academy's Department of Fine Arts is proud to announce a new "Arts" clinic for Mercy students and incoming freshmen.

Students have the opportunity to work with well-qualified artists and art instructors to create drawings and paintings during the camp. The subject matter of the artwork will be from life as to enhance their observational skills. Students will be instructed in various drawing and painting media and techniques. This is an excellent preparatory course for any student interested in pursuing a Portfolio Preparation or Advanced Placement Studio in Art course at Mount Mercy Academy in the future. Incoming freshmen are encouraged to attend to get a head-start at MMA.

The clinic will be held June 26 - July 18, 2012 at Mount Mercy Academy. The clinic runs for 4 weeks, two nights per week, from 6-7:30 pm.

Total cost for the clinic is $160, ($20 per class).

The MMA Department of Fine Arts will organize a student exhibition and reception, of the work completed during this clinic, in the new Mount Mercy Academy Art Gallery for students, family, friends, MMA staff, MMA administration and art teachers in September 2012.

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
