Going Green in the Art Room

by cnewman

This year in Mrs. Jennifer Licata's classrooms, the focus is "Going Green." All of her classes are concentrating on eco-conscious habits like recycling as much as possible (which is challenging in an art room!), using "green" cleaners and art materials, saving energy when using our computers, printers, and cameras, going paperless (which has really been made possible with our classroom blog), and learning about eco-artists and creating eco-art. Mrs. Licata states, "Mercy art students have been very receptive - my recycling has been overflowing and my trash has been minimal. They also seem to be really interested in the green materials we have been using - wanting to know where they came from and what they are made out of!"

"Mount Mercy has taught me some of the most important things in my life and I am so grateful for that. I know that incorporating the principles of a woman of Mercy has made me the best version of myself. I can only hope that in the future, I will continue to grow and teach others the valuable lessons that I was taught at Mount Mercy. While I have learned so many things here, the greatest thing by far that I have learned is that DNA does not always make a family, love makes a family and that is exactly what I have gained here, a second family."
